American Appeal (postcard)

2010
Oil, fish-hooks and nails on panel of linen and plywood
270 x 155 x 10 cm

The artist was inspired by the experience of visiting New York for first time, creating a series of works entitled American Appeal where he uses thousands of fish-hooks as a symbol of seduction and trap. All the meanings related to that become stronger if we analyze issues like immigration/emigration regarding the American Dream that New York means, especially from the Cuban context.
