Cast bronze and stainless steel handcuffs
Variable dimensions

A chair made of wax, pulled out of shape by the addition of real handcuffs, was then cast in bronze. The size and solidity of the sculpture allow it to be used as a chair, despite its deformations; but as soon we sit on it, we unconsciously adopt a convict posture. This personalization of everyday objects highlights the extent to which we are the silent victims of our social backgrounds and habits of thought.
