The Kiss
1999
Bronze with different patina, perfume essences, and sponge
7.5 x 4 x 4.5 cm. each one
This work questions our position on racial issues. lt consists of several noses in bronze hanging on the wall with different shapes, smells and patina colors; in accordance with diverse racial characteristics. The noses, with different smells inside, create an installation that uses the public's sense of smell as a sensual interaction between the work and the spectator. When the public tries to smell the fragrance of each nose, it looks like a sequence of kisses between the viewer and the sculpture. The spectator becomes part of the piece, like a couple emerging from the wall.
