Isla (see-escape)
The production of this piece took around 6 months of work. It was created with the help of 30 assistants, divided into different sessions of work. They were hammering 500 000 fish-hooks approximately. The obsessive process of creation reinforces the meaning of the work; inspired in issues like isolation, emigration, collective fantasies and obsessions, etc..
This series of fish-hooks paintings combine different techniques solutions in relation with our senses and perception. In the distance, this work looks like a drawing or etching; nearer, we can see the brushstrokes of the oil painting; and very close, we feel the surface with the sensorial power and aggressiveness of the objects in its sculpture condition.”
